Self-entertaining

This week, Jeremy and I are talking about DJs and playlists, and though it was never even uttered or stated by name, I ended up with the song YMCA stuck in my head!  Talk about Pavlovian conditioning.  No way do I want to hear or dance to YMCA but by some tucked away learned response from junior high school dances and wedding receptions, it lives on!

Not too bad

For the first try. (Of course these are not the freshest roses):

Flowers

There's been talk of what to wear and I hope everyone is having as much fun with their outfits as I have been.  Fun with an asterisk.  I missed a period due to stress - THAT wasn't so fun.  Gotta stick to the yoga three times a week.

So you know I didn't want to coordinate outfits, but I would like to coordinate you all with florals.  I was thinking I'd choose the flower and maybe you could each choose the color and style you want to wear your flower(s)?  I'm on a budget so bouquets won't be very grand with lots of different blooms, but I think the options would be:

- pinned flower AKA boutonniere style
- bouquet
- corsage
- hairpin/garland
- am I missing any others?

I love roses, so I'm almost certain the flower would be rose.  Traditional me.

I just watched this video so I am tempted to make my/others bouquet, but I'll resist the temptation to take on too much.  I wouldn't make everything though, don't worry!  Just bouquets, cause I somehow refuse to pay upwards of $145 for some stems tied together with ribbon.  Of course, I'll do a dry run first.  But if I knew what everyone's preference was, I could gauge what to get made and how.  What say you?

Break a Bar, Saritha!

Sending lots of mojo your way!  (Though you won't need it.)  Here's to finishing the Bar Exam with a flourish and to summer for real!

Mood: Chaos Incarnate

Love that.  Heather observed it after some funny email exchanges.
This week really has felt like it, oh boy.  Jeremy and I are both "off" -- oversleeping, taking half days from work, etc.  There's too much going on!  I think Jeremy's beginning to understand what a mad mad mad mad world this wedding planning is.  Hello?!  This is why I've biting my nails to the knuckle for the last 6 months.

I went out on a limb and purchased a dress unseen from Nordstrom.com - I'm hoping my local Mission Statement boutique can re-make it for me and then I'll just return it.  Or maybe, I'll wear it as is.  It's not white, though.  I want to go dress shopping, too!  Oh, where is the time.  Holy crap, theknot.com says its 42 days until our wedding!

Balancing the 10 things that have to get done at once with my current inertia is like a snail walking on a leaf of a plant on a runaway train.  Or something.  Hopefully, it's just the coffee I don't normally have talking.

Can I get a witness

For those of you at the edge of your seats about who - just WHO!? - would be Jeremy's best "person" and witness: wait no more.  I won't make a game out of it this time.  OK, I couldn't resist:

A DRAMA CAST LAY

It's an anagram.  But you should figure it out pretty quickly!

In other news, I am laying low myself.  I'm out of steam since returning from the trip and am a bit lost about what to do next.  So Jeremy's taking the lead on the to-do list this week.  Maybe we'll hear from him next.  Anyone else have a wondering or question - I think I need some wedding planning guidance from the party.  A lessons-learned from PA?

For me, I hated not knowing how the ceremony was going to go until 12 hours before getting ready.  My parents and I couldn't talk to the priest to understand the details until Thursday night.   I'm sure thousands of ceremonies are and continue to be performed in India without a rehearsal or even a meeting.  I did learn from to just give in a little and let go.  Nevertheless, it'd be nice to be more prepared so I can get to sleep before my wedding day!  We're meeting with Lee this weekend to get our bearings on the civil ceremony.  Will let you know how that goes.

Need your Opinion!

What I like about this one:
- It represents where we live and where people are coming to
- The perspective is better

What I don't like:
- It's "more obviously" a doctored image
- It's trite
- It's too contrasted (you can't see the car so well against the road)

What I like about this one:
- It's a better color picture
- It's a pretty picture and image

What I don't like about this one:
- It's random - does it say "us" and "wedding"?
- the perspective - we look a little like we're floating (but would anyone notice?)

This is for the front of the invitation we're sending out via Paperless Post. (So it'll be like the one you got last time with an envelope, except this is what will pop out, and then there's a second side with details.)  By the way, it's totally OK to say, Shilpa, just pick one!  (That's what Jeremy said.)

Shilpa, don't too excite

This is what Pandit Raviji, the priest who will be marrying us in PA just told me on the phone.  It was a jovial tone, though.  I think he could hear my excitement.  We saw Erin and Javi last night and realized the next time we would see each other, Jeremy and I would be married.  Wow.  That hit me!  I'll be honest - I have jitters.

Well, this news about who will be marrying us in CA is dropping to you all today: through a game of Guess Who?

Is it a man?  No.
Does she have brown hair?  Yes.
Does she wear glasses?  Not that I know of, but I would say Yes sometimes.

Who's marrying us??? :)  Some of you already know.

Edit 6/16/10:

Does she have a kid? Yes.
Does she love the Oscars? Yes!

Mood: Uplifted

I feel great today.
We got some things close to done over the weekend.
I even got me some pretties to put in my weddin' ring.  Didn't think that would happen at the beginning of all this.
I'm actually at a point where I have no idea what to do next.  Take a break?

No, no..tonight: finish invitations, for sure.

Glamour shots of the bridal party are in order, though.  How can we make this happen?  OOh..would actual glamourshots be a possibility?  With the neon lights and feather boas circa 1991?  Hilarious!
No idea who this is, but...
 Or, there's always...

I'm all ears for ideas/preferences for showcasing you all on the wedding page.  Or maybe I'll come up with something as long as no one objects to having their photo up.  (It's an unlisted site so Google can't find it, but let me know.)

This could be dangerous

A blank slate to just spew all of my little neurotic happenings?!

I think this is what I wanted with the other blog, but didn't want to "show" myself to everyone in the same way.

Does anyone have any suggestions of missing information for the other site, by the way?  Besides hotel blocks and parking, both of which are in progress...

Mood: Copacetic

Updates: Gav will be on vacation, so can't marry us on 8/27/10.  His office suggested another senior commissioner or County Supervisor in his place.  Bevan Dufty is running for mayor and a possibility.
Todo: call Rustom from Roti Indian Bistro.  Finish wedding registry.
Todo, PA: start programs.  The priest from the ashram is cool.  He just called me.
Feeling pretty content about August after delegating photos and dessert to J.  Freaked out about where we will stay in New York on July 1-5.
Looking forward to being part-time at work starting August 1st.  Jeremy says I should be a "predator" with my next career move.  I'll try.

Yes!

You're on board!  WE HEART YOU!!!
